15 years ago, a bold idea sparked in Estonia: could you build your first prototype in just 48 hours? That experiment became the very first Garage48 hackathon, where 16 teams proved that with courage, creativity, and teamwork, you can turn ideas into working products in a single weekend. From virtual pets (Kratid.com) to lunch-matching apps (Wannalunch.com), many early projects laid the foundation for Estonia’s vibrant startup scene. Big cheers to our members Jüri Kaljundi, Rain Rannu, Ragnar Sass, Martin Villig, Priit Salumaa and Asko Seeba for making this initiative happen!
Fast forward to today — Garage48 has hosted 300+ hackathons in 50+ countries, helping launch countless startups and inspiring thousands of builders.
Now it’s time to celebrate this journey with a true back-to-the-roots hackathon:
